We’ve got some bad news: the fountain of youth isn’t real. At least, it hasn’t been discovered as far as we can tell. Not on this gorgeous planet of ours and not in the endless stretches of the universe. That said, reincarnation might exist in which case you could get another shot at life, just as a wolf or something cool.
Anyway, for all that bad news, we do have a glimmer of hope to extend your way…and they’re called habits. But they’re not just any old boring-woring habits. They’re habits that science says can help you live longer. And, more importantly, live a happier more awesome life too.
But here the best bit of good news is : these habits are actually super-easy to slip into your day-to-day routine. So, let’s get on with it, shall we:

Always Be Up For Some Mindful Movements
In case you aren’t aware of this already, moving is pretty darn good for your body, whereas being sedentary almost all the time is not. In fact, a sedentary lifestyle is actually linked to an increased risk of death. That’s why it’s so important you find ways to move your body throughout the day. Even if that means getting up from your desk right now and doing 15 star jumps or walking around the office, or around your block. It’s all going to help make you happier and healthier and live to 105 or something crazy.
You Can Still Snack, Just With A Little Tweak
Having a bowl of sugary cereal before bed, or chomping your way through a family-sized chocolate bar, or stuffing a hundred twinkies own your throat may quench your craving for a quick snack. But it’s not going to make you happy or healthy.
Thankfully, a little tweak to your snack drawer could be the only sacrifice you have to make. Instead of all that super-unhealthy and processed stuff that comes from rather ambiguous sources, try snacking on paleo bars, mixed nuts, kale chips, apple slices dunked in peanut butter, flax seeds, dark chocolate, almonds and carrot sticks smothered in hummus. It’s just about following a whole food diet and cutting out all those nasty processed foods.
Wake Up, Be Grateful, Sleep, Repeat
One of the greatest ways to enjoy each day for longer is to get into the habit of practising gratitude. In which there are a thousand ways you can do this. But the one that really gets the most applause revolves around starting your day better by writing a list of everything you’re grateful for as you sit down to slurp on your first-morning coffee.
Trust us: it only takes one entry to feel more positive about your day and happier with your lot. It could be your dog, your closet of gorgeous clothes, the coffee you are slurping on, your newly discovered perfect mattress, anything.
Laugh Until Your Sides Hurt
For all those people that think watching cat videos is stupid and laughing over memes is sad, we have some news for you: laughing so hard until it hurts might actually lengthen your time here on earth and make the days filling that time more amazing. The end.
