I got the idea for today’s post when I read the text on a friend’s WhatsApp profile picture. The text read: ” and if I asked you to name all the things that you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself?”
Now that was indeed a question and the saddest thing about this question is that most people wouldn’t even name themselves in that list.
Usually we are thinking about how to show people we love them. How to make them feel we care about them. How many times do you think of how to show yourself love and care?

4 things to start practicing if you want to love yourself
Talk nicely to yourself
The first step to self-love is to talk nicely to yourself. One thing you should always remember to do is be nice to yourself. Say nice things to yourself. Talk to yourself like you will talk to someone you love. What makes us or breaks us is what we tell ourselves.
If you say nice things to yourself every day, it will build the confidence you have in yourself and you will be happy with yourself.
Read inspirational quotes
There’s something about inspirational quotes that pump you up and make you feel like you are ready to face the world. So read inspirational quotes every morning.
You are not always going to have people and things around you to motivate you. So be your own motivator. Cheer yourself on and motivate yourself to get things done and achieve your goals.
Recite some positive affirmation
Have some positive affirmations you recite every day to remind yourself you are awesome and motivate you for the day.
As stated above, the things you tell yourself are what break you or make you. So say some positive affirmations to yourself everyday.
Most people feel guilty when they decide to take care of themselves and practice self-love. But one thing you should know is that it’s not selfish to love yourself.
It’s not selfish to care about your happiness and do what makes you happy. The best thing you can do for yourself is to make yourself happy.

But you have to learn to love and appreciate your body. Those so much that your body does for you every day that it’s not fair to hate it.
And the thing is society’s definition of the ideal body even changes over time. So you can’t really hate yourself based on that.
So love your body. Own the way you are. Accept that this is you and your body is the way it is. You are beautiful, just the way you are.
Pamper your body
The best way to love your body is to pamper it. So pamper your body. Visit the spa or take a relaxing bath at home with your favorite playlist. Get enough sleep too. Your body needs it.
Do something nice for yourself
Spoil yourself. Go shopping, spend money on yourself. Do something nice for yourself, something you’ve been putting off for some time. You deserve it.
Go on a date with yourself
There are so many things you can do by yourself to make yourself feel good.
- Take a long walk alone with some music or your favorite playlist.
- Go to a nice restaurant, order a good meal, and eat by yourself.
- Go to the beach or to the movies to see a movie you like.
- Watch the sunrise or sunset with some beverage.
Surround yourself with things you love
Be around people and things you love. Do things that make you happy. You don’t have to do something you don’t want to do just to please others. It’s okay to say no.
If someone asks something of you and you know very well you can’t deliver, just say no. Remember, it’s not selfish to love yourself. It’s not wrong to say no to people.
